Sleetstorm2015

That is what the news has coined this wintery mix we got 2 days ago!  Not sure why this prompted me to start blogging again (likely the stir craziness that has come from being confined with 2 crazies) but I hope it continues! Maybe I will try to catch up for the last almost year that I have missed or maybe I will just pick up from here. I am not sure...just happy to have the urge to post again! Here is a glimpse of what sleetstorm2015 has looked like at The Wimberlys!
Our "street" friends came over for chili
Lazy mornings bundled up...snuggling
Grilled cheese and "tomato soup"
worse than 52 card pick up...1000 piece puzzle sort
Bring on Day #2

Daddy/daughter Dance 2015

Chance and Ashlyn went to their first Daddy/daughter dance!  I am sure there will be many more of these in their future because they both had a blast.  I, on the other hand, had a glimpse of life with a teenager! It was a struggle to get her ready right down to the itchy corsage!  Lord help me! I am not sure you can see it in the pictures, but Mimi gave Ashlyn a ring that was hers when she was a little girl. It was a little big for her tiny fingers but she wore it around her neck.  So special!  Thanks Mimi.
My favorite
These guys were college roommates,
now they are hitting up the dance!

Valentine's Day 2015

Valentine's Day started early with a neighborhood get together with the kiddos on Thursday complete with VD crafts, treats and a heart shaped pizza!  Friday was Valentine's parties at school and Saturday we woke up to more Valentine's treats.  By mid-morning the kids were sugar overloaded and out of control!!  We had a birthday party in the afternoon then stopped by Gigi and PopPop's to visit with the Mauricis and Estes'.  Aunt RahRah came home with the kids and put them to bed so Chance and I could go to a Mardi Gras Party in the neighborhood.  It was a busy day for everyone!  Now it is time for sugar detox!  Happy VD!

Scarlet fever???

Paxton has had a rough month! He started with the flu and was down for a few days with that.  Just as he recovered from the flu and got to go back to school I got a phone call that he was running a fever again. I took him to the pediatrician and he was diagnosed with a sinus infection. They gave him antibiotics for that and in a day or so he was back to his old self. We went to Emory for the weekend and on Sunday he started complaining that his legs hurt. I didn't think much of it but when we got home and I got him out of the truck he wouldn't  walk and was screaming. We tried everything we could think of but this went on for 3 hours. I finally called the on call nurse because I was so worried. She told me to watch him and take him to urgent care if it didn't get any better. No sooner did I hang up the phone and she called me back and said the on call doctor said I need to take him to the ED. She was worried he may have viral myositis from the flu! Don't panic (or Google viral myositis) I told myself. We dropped Ashlyn of with PopPop and Gigi and headed to Children's Medical Center. It was over an hour and a half before we were seen. By the time we made it back to triage Paxton was totally fine!!!!  Standing, walking and even jumping.  It was the craziest thing I've ever seen!  I am sure they thought we were nuts!!!  I will confirm we are crazy when we get the $400 bill!  Anyway, we got home and he was doing better. The next day he woke up with hives.  They would come and go throughout the day. On Wednesday we took him to the pediatrician because they were not getting any better.  He thought it was an allergic reaction to the antibiotics that he had taken for the sinus infection.  We loaded him up on Benadryl and by Friday he was back to normal. Just in time to slide off our barstool and pull it down on top of him and give himself a huge goose egg on the back of his head!  Our stools are very heavy...solid wood!!  I was so scared he had a concussion!  I watched him for a few hours and he was acting normal...running, eating and playing...so we put him to bed. Well, he woke up at 2 AM throwing up!  Great!  Concussion? Stomach bug?  Didn't know what to think. Threw up all night so we took him in to the pediatrician (again...like the 5th time in 3 weeks!!). By then he was running fever so the doctor felt pretty certain he didn't have a closed head injury but it was just a tummy virus. Tested him for flu (again) and that was negative.  By Saturday evening he had a horrible rash and his cheeks were bright red...in addition to a high fever.  This went on through Sunday and I took him back to the doctor on Monday (think we made Dr. Yaeger's mortgage payment for January).  What do you know...strep throat AND scarlet fever!!!  Wasn't  scarlet fever eradicated in the 50's???  Apparently not!  Another dose of antibiotics (slim pickings when you are allergic to the 2 main ones they use to treat strep). Ugh...what a month!  Makes me exhausted just reliving it!  Really praying for wellness for our family!  Bring on summer!
These pictures were when he had the rash from Scarlet fever.  It was so scary not knowing what was wrong with him!  He was so pitiful.
You can kind of see the hives on his head and face.  These were mild.  At one point they were covering his whole body!
This was after a trip to the doctor.  Chance found this for him on a garage sale site.  He was so tired.
