8 months old
2/3's of a year old and such a big boy! Here's a little update of what Paxton has been up to this past month...
Pax Facts:
Stats: I have no idea, but growing like a weed! His hair is getting thicker and longer and is a light brown. He actually kind of needs a little trim! His eyes are still pretty brown with a little hazel in them. Still looks a lot like his sister to me! We get mixed reviews about whether he looks like mom or dad!
Wears: Size 6-9 month and 9 month clothes, size 3 shoes and size 3 diaper (but we aren't far from size 4 which is what Ashlyn wears!)
Eats: Like a teenage football player after 2-a-day workouts! He is a bottomless pit! He loves his solids and can easily eat 6-8 ounces at breakfast, lunch and dinner plus some finger foods while I am getting dinner ready! He snacks on puffs and mum mums too! I am still making all of his purees and his diet consists of: avocado, bananas, kiwi, blueberries, pears, peaches, mangoes, apples, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, broccoli, kale and oatmeal. He seems to have a sensitive gag reflex and hasn't quite gotten used to chunkier textures yet. When he first starts eating, you can't shovel it in fast enough and when he is full, he is full! He starts slapping at the spoon and makes a mess! He still nurses and takes bottle throughout the day, but he definitely prefers solid foods! He also can hold his own bottle! He also still wakes up once or twice a night to eat...oh well...we will sleep again one day! His reflux is so much better and he rarely spits up anymore.
Sleeps: We are moving in the right direction with sleep! He goes to bed around 7 because he is usually so tired! He falls asleep on his own really well now. He still wakes up once or twice to eat during the night and is usually up for good sometime between 6:30-7:30 in the morning. He takes a morning nap around 9:30 for about an hour and an afternoon nap around 2 for an hour and a half to two hours!!! Ashlyn is usually napping at the same time during the afternoon which gives me a little time to get things done! He starts out sleeping on his side and rolls over to his tummy and has started tucking his legs underneath and sleeping with his bootie in the air! I love it! Ashlyn slept like that for the longest time!
What else is new: He still army crawls all over the place! He gets up on all 4's and can go about 5-6 paces and then falls down on his tummy and starts cruising! He uses his left arm and his right leg (mostly his big toe) and he can boogie! He lays on his side a lot and props up on his elbow. From that position he can sometimes get sitting up! He likes to stand up to play, but isn't pulling up on his own yet and he still needs a little support to stay standing. He does NOT like to be in one spot for too long (that includes highchair...unless there is food involved...car seat, activity center and he really does not like his pack-n-play). He is a pretty happy guy if he has a full belly and he is on the floor with open range! He would rather play in Ashlyn's room than his and he loves playing with the doll house. Changing his diaper and clothes is basically a wrestling match and he usually wins! He loves bath time with his sister and by that time of day, I do too! I usually pour a glass of wine and let them play in the tub for a while...they are both confined and happy! I THINK he is teething right now...either that or he has a little cold. He is drooling like crazy, has a running nose and is keeping his fingers in his mouth a lot more. He has been more fussy and is waking up more at night. He also had a low grade fever one night. Not exactly sure what is going on, but I am hoping to see some teeth pop through soon! He definitely has a more assertive personality that Ashlyn. Ashlyn has always been pretty laid back, go with the flow chick. When Paxton wants or needs something he will let you know whether he is hungry and needs a clean diaper or wants a toy...he is very vocal! He has already started talking back to his sister if she takes a toy from him or tells him "no" (another blog about her to come). He is very happy when he wakes up and gives the biggest hugs and kisses (open mouth). When I change his diaper during the night or first thing in the morning, he stretches his little legs and sticks his belly out...I LOVE IT! He loves swinging at the park and still tolerates the Moby wrap when needed (I need to work on a new wrap because I think he would rather be facing outward). He has almost mastered sitting on my hip which is one of my favorite milestones...I love having that other hand free! He is very emotional and seems to get his feelings hurt fairly easily. I have gotten on to him a few times and he sticks his bottom lip out and starts crying! He also gets frustrated pretty easily. But most of the time he is a pretty happy, smiling guy! He loves watching the dogs and petting Mazzy. But his favorite person is by far his sister! And she is pretty crazy about him too. We all are! We love you duder! (and I promise to come up with a new nickname before this one sticks!)
I broke the 2 cardinal rules of photographing children...never attempt to take pictures when they are tired or hungry! These kids were both!
A few usable shots of Paxton with his 8 month sticker!
Then I attempted the sibling shot
(after I found a sticker for Ashlyn to wear)
Then a few more solo of Paxton
(with the play lettuce...I told you he was hungry!)
Then a few action shots
Then...the meltdowns!
Happy 8 Months!

Elmo standoff
Paxton was not sure what to think about this Elmo! Elmo would dance around and sing something and then Paxton would yell back at him! Of course I couldn't get the video to work on my phone fast enough to capture it, but it was pretty hysterical!

Slumber party with Rah Rah
Pizza, pedi's, painting...oh my! Aunt Rah Rah and Ashlyn were planning on having a sleepover, but Pop Pop got sick :(. So we had a change in venue and Rah Rah came to our house! The kids had a blast playing with her! She is so much fun! Thanks Rah Rah! Come again soon!

The carousel
Ashlyn is interested in the carousel at the mall these days. She doesn't want to get on a horse quite yet but she loves to ride on the bench. Paxton and I are ok with that too because we get to ride for free! I secretly really dislike it and get very dizzy!!! Ugh!!! The things we do...

Line up
Ashlyn is very into lining things up these days! She could play for hours with random objects just lining them up! Here are a few examples!
Park time for 2
We took advantage of the awesome weather today and hit up the park for some swinging!! Paxton is big and stable enough to actually enjoy the swing! He laughed every time I pushed him...he loved it! Ashlyn took a little spill during our walk around the park...tights seemed to take the brunt of the fall...knees were unharmed! Love this weather!
