Decorating the Christmas Tree

We actually got the Christmas tree up early this year! My goal is to take it down before Valentine's Day. Last year was our first year to ever have a tree. It was so pretty I didn't want to take it down. I finally took it down in April. I am sure the neighbors thought we were crazy. I plugged it in every night! Anyway, here are a few pictures of us putting up the tree. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Mazzy turns 35 (ok...5)

We celebrated Mazzy's 5th birthday a couple nights ago. Her birthday parties have changed a little over the years with the addition of Pip and now Ashlyn, but we still celebrate nonetheless. She also got to celebrate at the vet. She had her teeth cleaned and while she was sedated, we had the vet check on 2 lumps that have been worrying us. They ended up being completely benign so that is a big relief! Happy Birthday Mazzy Jane Wimberly!

Party hats, a cake with candles, presents...we went all out!

Not sure if you can see Mazzy's stitches or not
This is her right shoulder. She had one more spot removed on her left arm.

mmm...cereal!

Ashlyn tried rice cereal for the first time tonite! We knew she was getting close to being ready but when she almost dove after a bite of pecan pie at Thanksgiving, we knew it was time! She would open her mouth (kind of) for a bite, but then just kind of let it run out. She may have swallowed a little (on accident). I think I may have diluted it a little too much. It was pretty runny. It was really cute and we took lots of pictures (and a video but I am not that advanced to get it on the blog yet:) She is really getting quite a personality and she is so much fun. Enjoy these pics. They are pretty cute. And no, she didn't really require a bath after her first cereal experience...it was just bath nite!

She is getting so big!

Thanksgiving 2010

We had an unusually relaxing Thanksgiving this year. I was off work on Wednesday and Thursday so we packed up and headed to Emory for some R&R. We spent some quality time with Mimi & PaJ. We haven't done that in a while, because we are always on the go. Chance & PaJ attempted to go duck hunting, but their weren't many birds. That 4:30 wake up call was tough and we may have had a little too much wine the night before. We planned on having Thanksgiving as a family with Teresa & Robert and the kids but they were not feeling well and had been exposed to strep throat...eeek! Grandma Sally wasn't up to making the trip so Thanksgiving dinner ended up being the 5 of us. It felt very weird not having them there, but we will make up for it at Christmas.

We have so much to be thankful for this year (as we do every year) but this year is very special. Our little family grew with the addition of Ashlyn Mae. We consider ourselves very blessed. It was a rocky road getting her here, but now she is a healthy & happy baby. When I look back on the whole experience, the other thing I am thankful for is our support system. We have the greatest family and friends on Earth! The love and support we had as we walked down that rocky road was amazing. We couldn't have made it with out all of the love, prayers, thoughts, help, visits, phone calls, texts, flowers, food, cards and gifts. It was unbelievable. I hope we expressed our gratitude because we are truly thankful!

Happy Thanksgiving!
