Story time
We hit up story time at the library today. It is tough to find a class that is appropriate for both kids...the young toddler group is about as close as we can get. It is a little young for Ashlyn and a little old for Paxton, but they both seem to enjoy it enough! The library has such a great children's floor complete with a kitchen, lots of tables and chairs for reading, a puppet show area, computers and TONS of books! We got there early enough for play for a bit before heading in to story time. After story time we took advantage of the beautiful weather and ran around outside. It was VERY difficult to get a picture of both kids (or Paxton by himself for that matter). Ashlyn got an "A" for effort. Paxton is just too fast and strong! We are so lucky to have such a great library!
Speech therapy
Ashlyn had a screening for speech therapy about a month ago at the Early Childhood School of Frisco. They recommended a full evaluation to determine the need for therapy. She had her evaluation today with Ms. Brooke. It will be a week or two before we get the results from her testing and recommendations, but she will likely be starting therapy to work on her articulation. She was so cute and did such a good job with the testing.
These boots
Paxton was helping me sort laundry in the closet and he carried Chance's boots out and insisted on putting them on! I couldn't get a good picture of him because he wouldn't stay still long enough for the camera to focus (story of my life!).

A haircut for Ashlyn
Ashlyn got her 2nd haircut ever today. By the same lady who cut it the 1st time...in a completely different city at a completely different salon. Bizarro!

2 for 1
When we found out both kids needed procedures that required general anesthesia, I had the bright idea to get them both knocked out (literally) on the same day! It would be at the same day surgery center, both would have to be NPO (nothing to eat) after midnight, only one day off work/school, man on man coverage...it just made sense. I prayed that everything would work out as smoothly as I had it planned out in my head. And it really did. They put us in rooms right next to each other. Paxton was scheduled for 7:30 and Ashlyn at 8:00 which meant Paxton would come out from recovery as Ashlyn was back in surgery and then Ashlyn would roll out soon after that. A little juice and a few crackers and we were on our way home to spend the day together! A stop for pancakes, a good nap, a few little rewards/treats for bravery...it really couldn't have gone better (well, minus Paxton throwing up on the way home). But most importantly, I am so thankful that both procedures went well without any complications. No matter how many times you've done it, it never gets easier handing your child over for surgery. But God is good great! Here are LOTS of pictures from the day.

Paxton came out right as they were taking Ashlyn back. He woke up in recovery and the nurse had to carry him out instead of wheeling him out in the crib. She said he was feisty! He woke up a little fussy, but settled down quickly as he snuggled into me. Dr. Hung said he did great. He drained the fluid from behind his ears and put in the tubes with no complications.
Ashlyn woke up pretty quickly this time. The nurse said she cried at first and said her cheek hurt but once she was back in our room she was "all better". Popsicles are miracle healers! Dr. Burns said he turned up the electricity pretty high this time. 100 joules then 110 joules to be exact. He also injected a diluted steroid solution into the middle of the tumor. He didn't use much of the yag laser, which is the one that causes such dark bruising. He mostly used the pulse laser which penetrates deeper and causes swelling. I am hoping and praying this is the last time she has to go through this.
Paxton got sick on the way home and threw up. An outfit change and a package of wipes later, we were back on the road. We stopped for breakfast as we got closer to home and everyone was all smiles! We all took a good nap before heading out for a little fun!

This was her cheek before bed. It was even more swollen when she woke up. Her poor eye was slightly closed from all of the swelling. Gigi came over and spent the day with her so she wouldn't have to go to school. I was worried about her bumping it or if it started hurting. I don't think either one of them minded the play time :) Thanks Gigi!

The littlest Wimberly was a trooper too, but it is a little different when you are 3 years old and have been through the same procedure 3 times before. We talked a little bit about what would happen and showed her a few pictures from her last treatment. We wanted her to be prepared and to know what to expect. She was so strong and stoic. She never shed a tear (except when she woke up in recovery, but that didn't last long). I think it helped having Paxton there going through the same thing. They make a great team! Team Wimberly, conquered the day! Now...let the medical bills roll in! UGH!
