Poops, I did it again!

I think Ashlyn holds it and waits to go #2 until nap/bedtime!  I think she has figured out that is a sure fire way to get out of her crib!  Little toot!  She is one smart cookie.  Maybe I am giving her too much credit, but it has seriously happened every nap/bedtime this weekend!

Oops!

We went to dinner last night at the neighborhood Mexican restaurant.  We had been working on the house all day and didn't feel like cooking dinner.  I fed Ashlyn her dinner while we waited for ours to be served and sipped on a margarita :)  When our food got there, I couldn't find my silverware.  I knew I had some because I was using the napkin that it was wrapped in.  Chance got me another set and we went about our dinner.  When we got home I was unpacking Ashlyn's diaper bag and this is what I found...

That's one strong magnet!

You gotta be quick...

To change a diaper or outfit these days!  She immediately flips over on her tummy and starts reaching for anything in sight!  She isn't quite crawling yet, but she can scoot backwards on her tummy, pivot in circles and rock back and forth on her hands and knees.  I think crawling will likely happen in the next couple of weeks.  Enjoying our last days of being able to put her down somewhere and knowing she will be in the same place when we come back!  Baby proofing the house is next on the list!

Ashlyn Scissorhands

No matter how often you cut their nails...they will inevitably scratch themselves.  It's like they literally grow over night!  Like you are watering them with each bath!  I guess we were overdue with a nail trimming and Thursday when I picked her up from school, she had managed to scratch her face in 2 places, her nose and scratch her EYE!!!  I called our "after hours" nurse to ask if I should put drops in it or rinse it or what.  She recommended having it checked out, because if it truly is a scratch on her eye, it will need antibiotic drops and we shouldn't wait until the morning.  So we headed over to the "after hours" Pediatrician and he checked her out.  He put these drops in her eye and then looked at it under a black light and sure enough...she had scratched it!  It wasn't too bad and he said it would heal quickly.  He prescribed us some drops and we were on our way!  Lesson of the day:  Cut those nails...wether they need it or not!  (I tried to get a picture of her eye, but failed.  I am sure you can imagine what a red, irritated eye looks like.)

A sensitive gag reflex

We have been working on finger foods for a while now, but there are some textures that Ashlyn still has a hard time with.  It seems like she is the most sensitive to slimy fruit, or anything that gets stuck to the roof of her mouth.  If she can get it on the side of her gums and chew it a little, she doesn't seem to gag as much.  Last night's dinner consisted of black beans, soy dogs, kiwi, nectarines and bananas (we do lots of variety).  She is getting really good at getting the food to her mouth!  She was especially gaggy last night, so I pulled out the video camera and camera.  The video camera died, of course, but I got a couple funny shots on the regular camera.  I put the camera down just in time to miss the projectile vomit that followed the gagfest!  We headed straight to the bath!

"Cheese!"
"Ackkk!"
"Oh boy"
"Wait a minute...what is this I'm eating?"
"Aaacckk...iccckkk....uckkkk!

"That wasn't funny, Mom"

Ladies and Gentleman, we have some teeth!

Ashlyn has teeth popping out all over the place!  The first 2 were the bottom ones.  They popped through last week.  She was gnawing on her daddy's finger and he felt them scratching!  I noticed a couple more peeking through this week.  Her top 2 incisors look like they are next.  It is very hard to get a picture of her teeth. She has a long tongue and loves to stick it out!  Here is the best picture I could get of the bottom teeth.

You have to look closely, but you can see two
little pearls poking through her bottom gums

Helping with the laundry

More like playing peek-a-boo in the laundry!  Lots of laundry done in this house these days.  Not my favorite domestic activity, but I am trying to stay on top of it!  It's fun to have a helper.

Enjoying the warmer weather

We have been spending more time outside since the weather has been warming up.  We throw out a blanket down in the yard when we get home in the evenings and play outside until it gets too cool.

Love this baby girl!

Sick, but still cute!

Cold #5 is on its way out!  Ashlyn was pretty sick this weekend with a cough and a lot of congestion.  Gma and Aunt Sarah were in our neighborhood for lunch so we met up for a quick lunch between snuggle time and naps!  Just because you are sick, doesn't mean  you can't still look cute!
