Ashlyn's developmental check-up

Because she was a preemie, Ashlyn has been followed by a developmental doctor just to make sure she is on track.  Our visits are pretty much down to every year unless there are any concerns.  Her growth is good...she is still "petite" but has stayed right along her little growth curve.  Her motor (fine and gross) skills are right on target for her age.  Her feet are one thing we have been watching and they seem to be getting stronger.  She is pretty much barefoot all day unless we go outside.  And even then I try and let her go without shoes if it is safe.  Her comprehension and problem solving are both age appropriate but her speech is a little behind.  Notice I do not say expression because she has no problem expressing herself.  This girl is a character!  She just has a little trouble getting her mouth to move the right way to make the sounds come out.  We are going to see a speech language pathologist for an evaluation to determine if she needs a little therapy or to give us some "homework".  She is in the window for language development and I just really don't want her to get behind.  It was a great appointment and she  isn't scheduled to go back until she is 4 for her preschool testing!!  Wow!
