T turns 40!

Heading out of town for Aunt T's 40th birthday party!  Couldn't forget the birthday hat.  It was actually Ashlyn who remembered it!  Happy 40th T!

Our superhero

Crew was asked to throw out the first pitch at the Wylie Little League season opener in front out 1000+ people!

Wimberlese

These kids say the funniest things!
Paxton:
Pappy=paci
Pizpah=pizza (exactly what Ashlyn called/calls it)
e e=sissy
Hold you=hold me
My do it=I want to do it (said very often these days...he is very independent!)

Ashlyn:
Sprinkulos=sprinkles
Torcatilla=tortilla
Afflepauce-applesauce

I am going to keep this a running post so I can document the funny things they say as I hear/remember them!  By the way, Paxton talks SO much.  His vocabulary is huge and he will try to say anything.  He is putting 3-4 words together to say short sentences.

Ashlyn has been going to her speech school since October and I have noticed an improvement with her vocabulary.  She still has some trouble with articulation.  She can say the words properly if she slows down and models what I say but in her every day talking it is still difficult to understand if you don't listen to her often.  After her check up with her developmental dr this summer, I may look into some 1-on-1 speech therapy.  She is definitely making progress and I am so proud of how hard she works on it.  Not to mention she has to get up at 6:45 to make it to speech class on time!  No easy feat!

Paxton's 1st haircut

Finally decided to get Paxton's hair cut.  Too many people calling him "she" and "her"!  It didn't bother me much when older people would do it because I just figured they weren't hip with little boys with long hair.  But when young, trendy people started calling him a girl...I knew it was time!  He wasn't too sure about it at first, but once I held him in my lap and gave him a sucker, he decided it would be ok.

Bun on the head kind of day!

Ashlyn spent the night with her Aunt Rah Rah last night and I got this cute picture this morning in a text saying "it's a bun on the head kind of day"
I was at work and was having a "bun on the head" kind of day too!  So I sent this picture back
This conversation was in a group text with Gigi and Pop Pop included and without missing a beat this is the next text I received

My sickie

We have made it through the winter with very little sickness in our family!  Praise God and thank you Juice Plus!  Ironically enough, Paxton has been fighting off a cough/cold for about a week and the kids' JP gummies ran out a few days before our next shipment was scheduled (I may or may not have snacked on a few:).  Sure enough, 3 days off his vitamins and Paxton ends up with a fever.  It was running 102 and he was lethargic and really not acting like himself so we went ahead and took him into the awesome after hours clinic we have in Frisco. She tested him for flu and thankfully that was negative but she started him on an antibiotic since his symptoms started a week ago and he is just now running fever.  She suspects a sinus infection or maybe a developing pneumonia.  He hasn't had oral antibiotics since he got his tubes in October!  Prior to that he was on back to back antibiotics for ear infections!  When we got home from the doctor he fell asleep on the couch...in the 22 months I have known him he has never done that!!!  Really hoping he feels better soon.

Gum

So Paxton has become interested in gum lately.  Ashlyn usually wants a piece when I pick her up from school, so I tear a tiny, tiny piece off of hers and give it to Paxton.  Fully knowing he will swallow it before we are out of the parking lot!  He was being quiet last night (which always means he is up to something) and I came into the living room and found him sitting on the floor with a pack of gum.  He had pulled out several pieces and bitten off just a tiny end like I give him every day!!  He must think that is how you are supposed to eat gum!  Here is the evidence!  I think he ate the paper and all!

A happy heart

They had a face painter at the St Patty 's Day party we went to this weekend.  Ashlyn has had her face painted once before but for some reason she was very apprehensive about doing it again.  I walked her over to the lady's station and asked her if she want to have her face painted.  She said "no" so we walked away.  We went back a few times and just watched and I let her look at the board with all of the options.  I pointed out a heart that I thought was really cute, but she still said she didn't want to do it. I didn't push her at all and we just went on our way.  About 30 minutes later all of the littler kids were having a few minutes in the bounce house to themselves without the bigger kids.  Ashlyn had been bouncing and sliding and then I didn't see her for a few minutes.  I wandered into the house to look for her and this is where I found her!!!
It literally brought tears to my eyes!  If you are reading this blog it is because you are most likely family or a good friend and know that Ashlyn can be very shy in new situations or settings and it takes her a little while to warm up.  The fact that she went inside, by herself and decided to get her face painted was so incredible to me!  She was so brave because she had been a little apprehensive about it initially.  The lady who was painting the faces was so kind and also made a big deal about how proud she of her and how her son was shy growing up and Ashlyn reminder her of him!  She said there wasn't a line and Ashlyn walked up and just stood there.  She asked her if she would like her face painted and Ashlyn nodded her head yes and pointed to the heart I had showed her earlier!  I was so proud of my little peanut!  And this lady was awesome!  Thank you Lilia!
