Sisterly Love
True love is letting your dogs drink out of your swimming pool
We spend a lot of time in this kiddie pool! It's the only way we can handle being outside.
Look at all that hair!

Ryan turns 2!
Ryan celebrated her 2nd birthday yesterday and we were there for the party. Another fun swimming party...about the only way to survive this heat wave! The party was a "bookworm" theme. Ryan LOVES to read. It was really cute. There was a huge hot dog bar with more toppings that you can imagine, cold beer for the adults and really cute wormy cupcakes. They also collected books to donate to the Parkland Pediatric Burn Unit...such a sweet idea. We had a great time celebrating with Ryan. Happy 2nd Birthday Ryan Layne!

Hemangioma Check-up
We had our routine check-up with Dr. Burns. We are down to 1 dose a day of the Propranolol and so far we haven't seen any re-growth. He wants us to continue this dose for a few more weeks then wean it. We are excited about the thought of no medicine! His initial plan was to laser a few years down the road if needed, but he says he has changed his thinking a little. He has found that if he waits a few years and lets the tumor involute on its own the vascularity is occasionally replaced with fatty, fibrous tissue. When that occurs, it requires liposuction along with laser treatments. If he lasers early on, it usually involutes without complications. So we scheduled our first laser treatment for December. It is a very quick procedure, but it does require gas sedation due to the risk of movement during the procedure. He hasn't had any injuries to the eyes and he wants to keep it that way (and we do too)! The first procedure will be a low dose laser and the following 1-2 treatments will depend on how it responds. They tell us the procedure is painfree (since they are sedated during the treatment and no real pain following). He still feels very confident that down the road we won't even remember which cheek it was on!

A cookout with some best friends
We had a cookout with my best girlfriends from college and their families. Abby and Ben were so gracious to host the event. Despite the Texas heat we had a great time. The kids enjoyed playing and the adults enjoyed chasing them around while sipping on tasty beverages! Dinner was dynamite. We hope to make this a regular thing!

Brady turns 1!
We attended Brady Baughman's 1st birthday party. It was a fishing theme and was one of the cutest parties I have ever been to! Katie didn't miss a single detail! There were splash pools of all sizes all over the backyard for the kids to play in, tackle box favors, and cute fish decorations all over. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the party. We were too busy playing and having fun! Happy 1st Birthday Brady!

Silly Gpa! |
Thanks for stopping by Gma & Gpa, please come again soon!
Dear Mr. Huggie,
Please consider the type and color of dye that you use in the making of your diapers. When dampened it has the potential to stain skin that it may come in contact with scaring the ever living S#%^ out of the mother changing the diaper! It closely resembles a deep, dark bruise/hematoma. It could cause an anxious mother to freak out, call 911 and possibly go ape S#%^ on the sweet ladies caring for her daughter during the day before she realizes it is only dye from the diaper. While I appreciate the absorbent capacity of your product and my daughter is entertained by Goofy in the pleasant shades of blue and gray please contemplate a new design for the sanity of your consumers.
Sincerely,
A hypersensitive mother in Dallas

1st Edition
I finally got around to ordering a copy of our blog...in book format! It is awesome. Sometimes "keeping up with the wimberlys" takes a lot of time and effort and I think "do I really want to keep doing this?". When I got our book in the mail, it confirmed that it is worth every second it takes! I stayed up all night rereading the entire book! It is such a good recollection of the first year of Ashlyn's life. Much better than her baby book that I am WAY behind on. Here is a preview of what it looks like.

Transitioning?!?!?!
AHHHHH!!! While I was cleaning up from the party at Ashlyn's school on Friday, I just casually asked Ms. Tomika who would be the next kids transitioning to the toddler classroom. I was assuming Sailee and Noah because they are both walking. She looked at me with a slight smile/frown and looked down at Ashlyn and said "your baby is the oldest one in the class! Sailee will probably move next then Ashlyn." My response was "But Ashlyn's not walking yet!". Apparently they don't have to be walking to begin transitioning!! I know she will do fine, but those other kids just seem so much older and bigger than her! I guess it will be a good thing for her but it just reminds me how quickly she is growing up. It is hard to imagine that she won't be in "the baby" room anymore :(. We have gotten so comfortable with Ms. Lydia and Ms. Tomika and trust that they are taking good care of her. I know her new teachers will be just as wonderful, but I get a lump in my throat when I think about having to drop her off with strangers again. The transitioning program is nice...they spend about 2 weeks going back and forth between their old and new classroom to help get them adjusted. When they get to the toddler room they are expected to eat all of the school food, drink from a cup and sleep on a mat for naptime! That should be interesting! I will update as we begin the transitioning process. Prayers for wonderful teachers and a smooth transition (for mommy too) would be appreciated! Our baby is growing up!
Arts & Crafts from school
Here are a couple of the cute things Ashlyn has made at school (with the help of her wonderful teachers:)!
