Check-up at the Dr.
Height 24.5 inches long (10th %)
Weight 12 lbs 9 ounces (8th %)
Head Circumference 41 cm (20%-to accommodate her big brains!)
We had a great check-up with the pediatrician. He thinks she is doing perfectly and is right on target with her growth and development. Her 6 month shots weren't nearly as traumatic as the 4 month round. Thank goodness because I took her by myself so Chance could go to work. She cried a little when she got them, but was easily soothed.
Other facts about Ashlyn:
Size 2 diapers (still a little big, but size 1 was getting too small)
Mostly 3 month, some 6 month clothes
Drinks 6 ounce bottles during the day (usually 2-3) and nurses 3 times a day
Goes to bed around 8 and sleep until 6 when I wake her up to eat. She goes back to sleep and sleeps until about 9.
Takes a short morning nap (30 mins-1 hour) and a longer afternoon nap (2 hours) and maybe a catnap or two in the evenings (10-15 mins).
Still takes medicine for her hemangioma (which has really lightened over this past month) 3 times a day and Prevacid for reflux 2x a day. We tried weening the Prevacid, but she still spits up quite a bit without it and with her needing to keep the hemangioma meds down we decided to keep taking for now. She is also getting a shot once a month to hopefully prevent her from getting RSV. It is an immune booster that provides passive immunity to RSV (a very common virus that can make premature lungs pretty sick). The shot costs $3000/mo so we had to be pre-approved with insurance. There are certain criteria you have to meet in order to qualify for the shot. She also got her first flu shot this month. Lots of shots for this chickadee, but hopefully we can keep her healthy during the cold/flu season.
She babbles like crazy and her first word was Ma Ma!!! I can't truly say she called me mama (because she was looking at Chance) but it was the most clear thing she has said! So her first words were mama! She is making all kinds of noises and has started gasping very loudly.
Smiles ALL of the time and laughs out loud.
Can roll over both directions and is working on sitting up. She still needs a little help, but she will be sitting independently in no time!
Grabs for everything and it usually ends up in her mouth.
Found her feet! I thought it was hard keeping socks on her before! Forget it now!
Will easily play by herself for quite a while before getting bored.
Had her first cough, but it may have just been allergies because she never had a fever. Just sounded congested and coughed a lot. It was so cute when she coughed because she would stick her tongue out. She has a long and skinny tongue and she sticks it out a lot!
She fusses at first when we put her in her car seat now, but is still usually asleep before we get to the end of our street.
Loves to watch the dogs and has started reaching out for them.
Likes to sit with daddy in his chair and watch football.
She still uses a pacifier when she goes to sleep and when she gets fussy, but I can honestly say she rarely fusses!
Her personality is really starting to come out and it is so much fun to watch her figure things out. She is VERY alert and tunes in to everything! It amazes me how much she changes from month to month.
I think I say it every month, but we are really blessed to have such a sweet, healthy, happy, beautiful baby girl!
Here are her 6 month pics in her crib. She is getting so big!

Ballerina frog is getting smaller!

She is really filling out! Look at those rolls.
Here are some more pictures from the past month. Most of them are from our cell phones, so the quality is poor, but they were too cute not to share!

Tummy time

Tucked in like a big girl

She is swaddled, but Chance got out of the showered
and found this hand peaking out

Sneaking out of my swaddle

(sorry if this grossed you out, but it was TOO funny not to post)

These are the kinds of pictures I get while I am at work.

Working on sleeping unswaddled

She was so mad that she couldn't find her pacifier
This is Sarah H. Our NICU roommate.
She sent this picture for Ashlyn on her 1/2 birthday!
This picture made me laugh SO hard.
Another one I got while I was at work.
Popeye!
Ashlyn's 1/2 Birthday Cake
(A friend at work is taking a cake decorating class and
this week was clowns...so we pretended like
it was for Ashlyn's 1/2 bday)

She hasn't figured out to get things off her face yet.
So we find her with stuff over her eyes all the time!

Fell asleep playing

Snuggling with Daddy

So cute!

She still loves taking baths.
I think she is going to be a water baby!

Sneaking in an after work nap

Cuddling with Mazzy. Mazzy is so gentle with Ashlyn.
